Off to Boise!

This week I am headed to Boise, ID to help Adam and Liz out with Nathan while Liz is on bed rest. It will be my first flight with Calla, and by myself, so I am pretty nervous, but it is a short flight, so I think she will be okay. I am excited to see them and get to spend some time with them again. Tim and I miss having them live so close to us! I leave on Tuesday and come back the following Wednesday. It will be hard to leave Tim, seeing as the longest we have ever been apart over night is one night! And Calla is changing everyday, so we are going to try and skype every night so he can see her and anything new she is doing! Calla will definitely miss her daddy, she is a little daddy's girl! I think Tim will be okay here by himself, he did just get his new golf clubs and I know is just itching to go hit balls all of the time, but is sweet enough to put me and Calla first and spend some time with us. So I am sure this week for him will be full of golf, school, going to work, and getting a week of full nights of sleep again! (enjoy the sleeping while you can, Tim :)). I come back on my birthday! I can't believe I am going to be 21! I am so excited :). I never really thought by the time I was 21 I would be married for a year and a half and have a 2 and a half month old daughter! It is crazy how life works out and I wouldn't have it any other way :). Calla this past week has grown and is about 10 pounds 3 ounces! She is getting so big, it is somewhat sad to see her newborn clothes slowly start to be put away, but exciting to start using all of the 0-3 month clothes! She wears about half newborn clothes and half 0-3 month clothes now and is in size 1 diapers! Speaking of diapers, while Liz was up here at Christmas she suggested trying Luvs diapers because they are cheaper, and I did and I LOVE Luvs diapers. They are the only diapers that Calla does not poo or pee out of! And it's just an added bonus that they are cheaper than Pampers and Huggies! Calla has also been getting better at holding her head up longer, she just needs to learn that her hands and arms can help pull her chest up, but instead she does the airplane and just lifts everything up all at once. It's safe to say her neck is very strong from doing that :). She is learning though, the more tummy time she has the more she is able to figure the whole thing out with her arms. Her legs are already ready to get moving, so I think she is good there :). She is also big on licking everything these days, it is pretty fun to watch haha! A funny thing I have noticed her doing lately is when I hold her in my lap on our bed she is facing this one wall, and there is nothing on the wall it is just white, but when she sits there she looks at that wall every time and she starts smiling so much. She isn't even looking at me while smiling, she is looking at the wall. It is almost like she is flirting with this random spot on the wall. Needless to say, it is hilarious to watch. She is a funny, cute, adorable little girl and I am so lucky to be her mommy! It is 6:30 in the morning and she has finally fallen asleep again after being up for an hour and a half so it is off to bed I go! :)

Cake!

So after talking to Elise about cakes, I decided I wanted to try and make a fondant covered cake. It was insanely messy, but I think it turned out pretty well! Here it is :)

Here is random picture of Calla that I thought was cute :)

Sunday Update!

A lot has gone on in the past week! To start, I had to go to another checkup with my OB just to make sure my blood pressure was doing ok... well of course it always likes to go up at the office so they decided it was time for me to see a primary caregiver that can follow my blood pressure on a regular basis. After that appointment I was sent to the other doctor and oh how it was an interesting appointment. My blood pressure wasn't too bad, but then it got all wierd, so for now I am still on some medicine for it and have to go back for another appointment in February. Tim's new golf clubs finally came in! It was a glorious day for him yesterday to go pick them up. They are really nice and I'm glad he could get them! And then there is Calla! Oh how she has changed in just a week! She will be 2 months old in just about a week or so and weighs just around 10 pounds! I can't believe how fast time is flying by, it feels like just yesterday that I gave birth to her! Her new developments this week include grabbing, grabbing, and more grabbing. She loves to grab hair, blankets, and clothes now. She is also "talking" more, smiling more, and is starting to enjoy tummy time a little more. She has found that when I lay her on her tummy she can move her head better from side to side and hold it steady in the middle. We are starting to think her motivation is that when her head reaches the middle, she can lick the blanket... haha whatever works! She is also starting to grow some hair on the top of her head finally, so she doesn't have such a bad old man hair look now, although the new hair doesn't show up well in videos or pictures yet! I suppose I should think about getting ready for church now, we have church at 1 and then we are going to our friend's Tele and Erin's house for dinner!

Here is a video of Calla up close smiling a lot and just making some cute faces and noises :)

First Calla video!

Calla is trying crawl, lift her head, and roll over! (Sorry for the poor quality, I had to record it on a different camera from my computer)

Hello :)

The blog is finally ready! I decided with everyone on my side of the family living so far away, I should do what Elise did and create a blog for everyone to keep up with everything that is going on with us and with Calla. Just to catch up to everything that has happened until now, Calla Brielle was born on December 1, 2010 weighing 6 lbs. 12 ounces. If you ask me, the delivery was not bad at all, but if you ask my mom or Tim, they would say otherwise. I was induced around 10 in the morning, and had her at 7:27 at night. I got an epidural, which was WONDERFUL :). But then I got some random infection which caused a fever and vomiting, as well as some high blood pressure, and Calla was head down, but turned to the side, but with the epidural they could really do anything so that was fixable. But overall, I would say it was a good delivery with a great doctor and a great nurse and I am not so scared now for the second one! She was born right around the holidays, so almost all of our immediate family has been able to meet her! Sadly, Elise, Rudd, and Remi live all the way in Michigan, so they weren't able to come for Christmas, but hopefully they will get to meet Calla this summer! It was hard to see everyone leave after getting to spend so much time together, but hopefully we will all be able to get together again soon. So now that everyone has left, we have just been getting the hang of taking care Calla and not sleeping of course. Tim started classes on January 10th and is working, so he is pretty exhausted, but taking very good care of me and Calla :). I deferred this semester, so I can stay home and focus on taking care of Calla, which I don't mind :). Some new developments with Calla are her ability to smile at us now when we smile at her and learning how to grab things and pick them up (mainly just her paci, she likes to hold it by the silicone part). She is now 1 and a half months old and weighs between 9 and 10 pounds already! I can't believe how fast she is growing and changing everyday. As for changes with Tim and I, there is not much to report. My doctor is still a little concerned about my blood pressure being high, but from what I can tell it is not too bad, so everything should be good there. Things are changing everyday, so my goal is to write at least once a week on the blog... we will see how that goes!
